Your Quick & Simple Review: “The Meg”

After giant creature attacks a deep-sea submarine, Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) must save the stranded crew from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.  Then find a way to save the rest of the ocean from the 75-foot-long prehistoric shark known as the Megalodon.

Talk about a film that tested my shark phobia, this was it.  Although the story line was totally over the top and good for a few chuckles, the visuals really had me squirming in my seat and hiding my eyes a couple of times.  I’m very picky when it comes to CGI (Computer Generated Images), fortunately they didn’t overwhelm us with that here.  What they did overwhelm me with, in a good way, was the anticipation of something about to happen.  I struggled to keep my eyes on the screen, but they got me…. which was good.

One thing I was a lil disappointed in, was it wasn’t a bloody as I thought it might be.  A couple of moments here and there, but without it it wasn’t the thriller it could have been.

All in all, I enjoyed The Meg, and I think a lot of ladies, like my sister, will be happy when they get to the part where Jason Statham is walking around shirtless… LoL    If you don’t care about that, it’s still a good way to spend a couple of hours this weekend.
